WHAT THERAPY IS LIKE WITH ME

Life can feel like a path with unexpected twists and obstacles, often uncertain and overwhelming.

The Ancient Greek root of path—pathos—means 'to feel' and 'to suffer,' which reflects something deeply human: our journeys inherently include strong emotions and struggle. While we can't avoid life's difficulties, we can learn to move through them with greater resilience.

One experience that shapes how I think about therapy is climbing via ferratas ("iron paths").  A via ferrata provides secure handholds and a safety line, making it possible to navigate terrain that might otherwise feel overwhelming. Crossing the pictured bridge reminded me that what allows us to keep moving isn't the absence of fear, but the presence of support and movement toward something meaningful ahead.

Therapy isn't about eliminating life's difficulties or telling you which path to take. It's about creating a space where you feel safe enough to face what's difficult, better understand yourself  and develop practical tools to move forward with greater skills and clarity. Whether you're navigating anxiety, depression, burnout, a life transition, or simply feeling stuck, you don't have to find your way through it alone. My role is to walk alongside you as you discover what feels right for your life.

When I think of my work and my life, I am often reminded of a quote from Ram Dass:

" We are all just walking each other home"

To me, speaks to the quiet power of being met on our journey.  This is my offer to you.

Warmly,

Janise McNally Therapy Environment
